INFO GO team Morocco 2010

In three weeks time one cannot change the World. Not even the life of one street child. But you can try to do something! You can reach out, organize activities and games. Show a real interest.

We will leave in august 2010 with a team to Morocco to work with street kids. Every day we will take time to make contact with children hanging out on the street - They usually sniff glue and are being chased away by people from the neighborhood. They try to make a living by selling Candy or cigarettes, stealing or begging. Together with them we will improvise a program.

This trip will be VERY challenging - the hot climate, other food and cultural habits. working with the children will be very demanding. It will ask a readiness to sacrifice a lot of your own comforts.
So do think about whether you are prepared to make this effort.

The lord Jesus loved children wholeheartedly, so we will allow him to inspire us!
Which city the trip will go to is still in planning. Of course we will also take some days to enjoy the nature and culture of this beautiful country.

Dates: 2 - 21 august 2010. Because tickets have to be booked on your name the ultimate registration date is may 1st 2010.
Cost: right now we are planning for a Total cost including food, housing, travel of 1000 - 1200 Euro - depending also on which city we will be going.

Application forms are sent upon request, you will then also receive a letter with all the details.

Next KT DTS in India - apply now!

Our next KT DTS in India will start with a 'welcome dinner' on Sunday, Sept.27th, 2009 and will end on Friday, Mar.5th, 2010. The KT DTS is a 'special-focus' DTS that is open to all Christians. In addition to the regular DTS content, this DTS has a special focus on reconciliation between Catholics & Protestants and will also train participants on how to minister in Cathoic settings.

The setting of having it in India contributes to the value of our DTS as a cross-cultural missions training program, as it places us in direct contact with the unreached around us on a day-to-day basis, even as we train and we have ready opportunities for 'cross-cultural missions' all around us. You just have to step out of the door!
At the same time, Pune is a metropolitan city with modern amenities and English spoken quite widely; so it gives you exposure to India and missions, without 'throwing you in the deep end'.

Could you help me get the word out to your contacts as well, who might benefit from doing a Kerygma DTS or be able to advertise for us? Thanks!

For more details on the DTS, you can download a prospectus from our web site: india.kteams.org . You can also view videos of testimonies, from participants of our recently concluded DTS on these pages. As well as download an application form for the DTS. Please do visit our web pages, which we have updated with new information on the upcoming DTS.

We are also looking for more staff for our upcoming DTS. So, if any of you have completed a DTS, please do pray about this opportunity. Again, if you know any YWAM'ers who are interested in working with us, a KT DTS can be a great introduction to 'Kerygma Teams'.

Blessings!
Cassius.

Next KT DTS in Sydney

Dear friends of Kerygma Teams,

We have had a massive year, a GoTeams mission trip to India, WYD 2008 and a trip to China. We are about to take 8 young adults from Sydney on another GoTeams trip to India and we have a DTS planned for August this year. It looks like it is going to be another huge year for us here in Sydney.

We are praying for 12 students for our next DTS, which will be partnership with a YWAM ministry here in Australia. We are excited to run another DTS and look forward to see the impact the DTS will have on our students, staff and our ministry.

The DTS will start at the end of August and the outreach will finish around the beginning of February 2010. We hope and pray that we continue to grow as a ministry and that we would be able to provide a solution to the growing hunger for young people to “give what they have been given” or “to be a witness to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8)!
We are obviously still looking for DTS students, so feel free to connect with us if you are keen or know about people who might be keen to do a DTS. If you want to be staff on our DTS, you can also contact us.

Thank you and God bless,

Edwin and Emma Bakker

Information for the next Global Gathering

Dear fellow KT'ers,

Just wanted to remind you of the dates of our next int'l staff conference. The 'Global Gathering' or GG as we call it, will be held from the morning of Feb.6th till lunch on Feb.10th, in Pune, India.

Lynn Green (Chairperson of YWAM Int'l) and Henry Cappello (Youth Arise) have just confirmed being our main speakers at the conference.

So please mark your diaries, plan to attend, book your flights to take advantage of prices of early bookings & start praying in the money! Here are the basic details:

Dates: Feb.6th (morning) - 10th (lunch). Please plan to arrive on the 5th.

Venue:
The GG will be held at 'Navsadhana', the new facility of the Diocesan Pastoral Centre in Pune. They have clean spacious self-contained rooms accommodating 2 or 3 people, a well-equipped hall, a dining room, a chapel, attached to a parish church (easy access to daily Mass & the Sacraments) and conveniently located near transport & shopping facilities.
You can state your room preference: snoring or non-snoring :-) in your application form and we will try to accomodate your request.

Costs: 100 euros

Getting here:
Please plan to fly into Mumbai, as that is the nearest int'l gateway city near Pune.
You can fly to Pune from Mumbai or Delhi, but it is usually not possible to get good connections.
The most convenient way to get to the venue is to travel by a coach which will take you from outside the airport, to the venue of the GG for a fee of about 10 euros. We can book you on the coach closer to the time, once you confirm that you would like us to do so, on the application form. The journey would take 4.5 hours.

Return date & vacation:
Please consider coming earlier or staying letter to attend part of the L5, if you are not already doing so.
If you plan to return home or travel further in India after the GG, please plan to be here at least till the lunch of the 10th. So it would be best if you plan your return flight late on the 10th or early 11th (to give enough time for travel to Bombay as well).
You will have plenty of time left on your visa, if you want to travel to another part of India for a holiday or sightseeing. Pune is also fairly close to the beaches of Goa, which is an excellent holiday destination, for those who might want to plan in a holiday before or after the GG. You can get to Goa from Pune by flight or an overnight bus trip.
Please let us know about your travel plans & arrival details, as soon as you can, so we know when to expect you..

Weather:
The weather in Pune in Jan & Feb is very pleasant - like late spring/ early summer in Europe, so it is a good time of the year to be here.

Visas:
You will need to apply for a visitor's visa closer to the time. It usually takes 3 business days in most nations to get this visa & it is valid for 3-6 monhts. Please do not state that you are a missionary or attending a missionary conference; else you will be refused a visa.
I would suggest starting the visa application process about 2 weeks (but not longer than 2 weeks) before your date of departure. Often the visa's validity starts from the date of issue, rather than the date of arrival in India.
We are asking foreign staff & students to apply for visitors / tourist visas. It is okay to do a short course in India on a visitors visa. In your 'purpose of visit' you can choose what you can honestly say, from: 'learn more about India', ‘visit friends’, 'get some spiritual experience'.

Registration:
Will need you to fill in a form to confirm you participation & get some basic details.
So email me at india@kteams.org as soon as you are ready & I will send you a form.

Hope all of you can make it. It is an exciting moment for us to host the L5 & GG in India and we look forward to seeing you all here.

Blessings!

L5 Leadership Course in India

- L5 -

The Art of Team Building

In Pune, India
January 19th to February 22nd , 2009

Since Vatican II there have been an increasing number of initiatives geared towards training lay Catholics in evangelisation and mobilising them into missionary service. As the number of participants in these lay missions programs has grown over the years, so too has the awareness of the need for more specific leadership formation. Faith formation, knowledge of doctrine, and an awareness of general leadership principles have often proven to be insufficient to meet the demands placed upon those lay people leading today’s outreach and missions teams.

- L5- was created to attempt to address this need.

- L5- is a practical, hands-on 5-week Leadership training course (hence the title) designed for people like you - Christians who lead evangelisation and / or missions teams for lay-missions organizations, prayer groups, communities, or discipleship training programs. The course will cover the following topics:

- Leadership & Team building - lay leadership, recruiting, forming the 'identity' of a group, “prophetic” leadership, networking, mentoring, problem solving, leading team meetings, understanding “team dynamics”, maintaining a healthy team life, creating a leadership team, and making corporate decisions.

- Evangelisation in a Catholic context - re-evangelising the baptised, a Catholic understanding of “salvation”, organising evangelistic events, evangelistic models that work, evangelisation and ecumenism, building communities, “kerygma” and “didache”, reaching the unreached.

- Building a solid Catholic ethos on your team - cultivating a “Catholic ethos ” in an ecumenical team, increasing your team’s sacramental understanding, “missions” in Catholic Church teaching, learning to appreciate Catholic spirituality.

- Communication & Management - writing newsletters, fund raising, relating to the hierarchy - diocesan and international structures in the Catholic Church, project management

“Keeping the fire burning” - holiness of the leader, how to cultivate a long-term mentality in missions, helping your team stay motivated, recognizing “gifts” of your team members.

In addition to the teaching there will be time of worship, intercession, small groups, ministry times and opportunities to attend Eucharistic Celebrations. There will also be free time for recreation, celebration and for fellowship with the participants. It is our hope that the relationships formed in these 5 weeks will provide a kind of supportive “missions network” that will last well beyond the conclusion of the course.

From the morning of Feb.6th till lunch on Feb.10th, we will be joined by 'Kerygma Teams' staff and leaders from around the world for our 'Global Gathering' (G.G.), giving us a unique opportunity to interact with them & share experiences.

Confirmed Speakers:

Lynn Green - International Chairman of 'Youth With A Mission'
Henry Cappello - 'Youth Arise International'
Fr. Anil Dev IMS - Matridham Ashram, Varanasi
Diane Williams - Bethel Retreat House, Goa
Bruce Clewett - Founder, Kerygma Teams
Rob Clarke - Leader, Kerygma Teams, Ireland

Venue:

This L5 will be held at 'Navsadhana', the new facility of the Diocesan Pastoral Centre in Pune. They have clean spacious self-contained rooms accommodating 2 or 3 people, a well-equipped hall, a dining room, a chapel, attached to a parish church (easy access to daily Mass & the Sacraments) and conveniently located near transport & shopping facilities.

Who can attend:

The L5 & G.G. are open to Catholics as well as other Christians who minister in the "Catholic World" or would like to do so. This program will equip you to more effectively lead small ministry teams in a parish, community, prayer group or lay-missionary organization.
There is no age restriction - youth & mature age participants are both welcome.
There are no requirements for minimum educational qualifications or ministry experience.
Anyone who may have already had basic discipleship formation through a DTS, an ICPE, Catholic School of Evangelisation, etc. and who would desire more specific ministry training and more contact with like-minded people. This program will help network these people together for communication and open the potential for collaborative projects in the future.
YWAM'ers (members of Youth With A Mission) who are interested in being better equipped for ministry in the "Catholic World".

Costs:

We will have a tiered system of fees, depending on "the ability of each one, according to the means that God has given". So the fees for the L5 range from Rs.9,000 to Rs.25,000.

The actual cost for the whole L5 works out to Rs.25,000 per person for accommodation, food, and tuition

For those from outside India, who are applying, the currency conversion rates are approximately as follows:
1Euro = Rs.55, 1US$ = Rs.40, 1Aus$ = Rs.34.

We realise that this is unaffordable for some, and so we try to raise some money to offer subsidies, for those who are unable to pay this amount. Please read carefully, our financial information & policy on fees in the application form.

If you cannot afford the above amount, we would like to offer you a subsidised fee of Rs.18,000 for the course.

If this is still beyond your means, we would like to offer you a subsidised fee of Rs.9,000 for the course.

For further information, please refer to the pages on 'financial information' in the application form.

Please note that it will be possible to attend one or more weeks of the L5 or the 'Global Gathering' alone, if you cannot make it to the whole L5.

The actual cost for the 'Global Gathering' or per week for the L5 would be Rs.5,500 per person for accommodation, food & tuition.

If you cannot afford this amount, we would like to offer you a subsidised fee of Rs.2,000 for the same.

How much should you pay?

To help us answer this question, please take into account the following:

· The maximum that you can afford with your personal/ family resources
· Any other resources that you have access to: parish, associations, friends etc. who might want to support you in doing this course. Some participants in the past, have also done small fund-raising events to raise money for the course. This has the added benefit of making more people aware of what you're planning & giving them the opportunity to support you in prayer & with encouragement. Ask God for creativity!
· Is there a challenge of faith that God is setting before you in this area? Seek God in prayer about this, rather than just choosing an amount that you feel comfortable with.
