Slovak DTS Graduation

We just finished our second DTS successfully, all students passed! Above is a picture of the school gradution. We are planning to run our third school: 20 September 2010 - 1 April 2011 with the same focus: "Intimacy with the Father & Learning to move in the supernatural." The school will be open again for Catholics and Protestants!
KT Australia April Update
We are steadily creeping closer to the 9th of June when we will hold our Kerygma Network DTS here in Melbourne, Australia.
We have accepted our 8th student. we have 3 Aussies, 2 Indonesians, a Canadian, a Korean and an American on our team! We still have three in process on top of that! Edwin had a meeting with one of our guest speakers the other day and he has some good stuff on his heart for us all. What he has been hearing from the Lord, is pretty much in line what we have been sensing too.

For more information please email us on Australia@kteams.org

During 2 weeks of the DTS we will be making the most of the opportunity of having Bruce Clewett in Australia. YWAM Melbourne will be hosting a seminar on the “Catholic friendly way to evangelism” and we’ll be opening it up to the wider body of Christ. It will really bring Kerygma teams to the fore and we are excited for what God has in store.

Edwin is also in talks with Australian Catholic University (Melbourne campus) about taking an outreach to Korea later in the year. This is still in its early stages, so we can’t share a lot about it, however, we ask for your prayers for God’s wisdom and grace as we begin to partner with them.

As we said last time, it’s an exciting time for KT down under! Many blessings. Edwin, Emma and Sarah

Radio a new Arena for mission in Ireland
Over the last 6 years you may remember that we have written about involvement with Radio. We had participated in several temporary licenses. This all played a part in helping change the Broadcasting Authorities perception of Christian Radio and subsequently interested parties were invited to make an application for a licence. The group we were working with, Spirit Radio made an application and subsequently won the licence.

We have watched and supported all this it from a distance, but in January this year there were some fresh developments. The man who had been heading up the initiative stepped back and suddenly the board of directors were looking for a new man to head up the project.

After some reflection, I started to feel that I should make myself available to take up the responsibility. There were a number of reasons. I have been involved with this project from the beginning and would love to see Christian Radio launched across Ireland. People today are so media savvy - radio creates the possibility to make the connection and communicate Gospel truths in a contemporary context. Secondly if the licence is not used it will be lost and the opportunity for Christian Radio will be lost. The Board were looking for someone who could relate to both the Catholic and Evangelical/Protestant Communities in Ireland, something I have been doing for more than 25 years. On top of all that having passed on my YWAM National Director responsibilities I was both available and ready for a fresh challenge and then most importantly I felt the Lord prompt me to put my name forward. I was interviewed by the Board and that same day offered the position.

I spoke with my YWAM leaders, to explore how I might take up this challenge and remain on staff with YWAM.. After a number of discussions with the West European Leader Stephe Mayers and the Kerygma Executive, I am delighted to be able to say that I have been commissioned to take on this project and am seconded to Spirit Radio as a YWAMmer. I continue to serve on the YWAM leadership team in Ireland and on the executive of YWAM’s Kerygma Teams.. And I continue to serve on the executive for the RELaY Network.- I am both excited and daunted by the challenge. I am surrounded by great people and we stand with a tremendous opportunity in front of us. Right now we are seeking to raise the seed capital to get the radio on the air. It is a real faith venture! You can listen to Spirit Radio on the internet right now www.spiritradio.ie

Right now I am also building a prayer support team - we are very aware that it is a battle to get this station launched. email me if you would like to be a part of this prayer team. rob@kteams.org

News from KT in Melbourne

Mission Adventures:

The YWAM Melbourne family came together during the first two weeks of 2010 to host Mission Adventures.
MA is a 10 day Youth Camp where the aim is to introduce young teens into the world of missions through a 3-day training course, followed by a practical outreach.
Outreaches varied from Blessing the neighbourhood by gardening and helping out where needed, to placing a volleyball net on the beach and inviting people to play, to setting up a prayer station in the centre of Melbourne.
As Kerygma Teams, it has been a joy to get together with all the ministries on base and to bring all our skills and talents into one event, and enjoying each other’s company. Edwin took up the daunting challenge of leading the event and did a fantastic job.
We certainly feel right at home here in YWAM Melbourne.

KT DTS:
Speakers are beginning to confirm and prospective students have begun to enquire. The KT DTS will begin on the 9th of June 2010 and will continue till the 29th of November.
We are aiming for twelve students…Please pray with us and for us as we piece this DTS together, there are challenges as ever, but we continue to seek the Lords guidance and wisdom in all things.

Sarah:
It is great to be back with Kerygma Teams and in Missions after a break of nearly 2 ½ years. I never thought I would see myself on the other side of the world, so far from family and friends, however, I certainly do feel God’s hand holding me steadfast as promised when praying about coming here.
Edwin, Emma and the children have been wonderful in welcoming me here to Melbourne. They are great fun and it is an absolute honour to be working with them.
I am thoroughly looking forward to what God has in store for us here as Kerygma Teams within YWAM Melbourne, it is a lovely place with wonderful people seeking to serve God with all of their hearts, it’s an exciting time Down Under.

Mission Builders:
Here in YWAM Melbourne we welcome people who wish to serve for any period of time up to three months as Mission Builders.
Mission Builders live on base and serve where ever needed, and wherever their skills and abilities lead.
It’s a way to volunteer and get involved with missions, travel with a purpose and be part of a fun, exciting base.
Mission Builders do not have to have done a DTS or have been involved with YWAM previously.

Exciting news from Ireland!

There are times that we battle long and hard for a breakthrough and there are times that we are simply swept up into God’s bigger plan, and become aware how much we are dependent on his Grace. We recently experienced one of those moments when the Lord just took us by surprise.... I was actually on a teaching trip on the island of Malta when I received a call on my mobile phone... Harry Smith an Irish Christian leader wanted to talk.. I pulled off the bumpy road and parked the rental car by a grove of trees to take the call...

Harry leads the Christian Renewal Centre in Rostrevor a border town in Northern Ireland. The centre founded in 1974 by Cecil and Myrtle Kerr has been a place where Catholics and Protestants have come together over many years. During some of the darkest days of ‘The Irish Troubles’, ex-paramilitaries and Christian leaders met in the centre to pray for peace, seek forgiveness and build relationships.

Harry explained how they felt they’d completed the work the Lord had given them to do in Rostrevor and that the time had come for them to move on to fresh things. Harry went on to say the Board wanted to pass the property over to another ministry - to this end they had invited several ministries to forward proposals on how they might use the facilities. Harry was ringing to specifically ask if YWAM Ireland would submit a proposal. I outlined that Jonny Clark was now the leader for YWAM’s work on the island of Ireland. I promised to contact Jonny immediately but assured Harry we would forward a proposal. Following a flurry of phone calls, emails, a YWAM Board Meeting and considerable prayer we sent in a simple proposal on how we imagined we might use the place as a training centre and as a gathering place for Christian leaders in Ireland.

We were the last group to submit a proposal and the last group to go to interview just before the Christmas break.. Leaders from the centre rang me again in January asking if we might be free to come and meet with the board again.. And to make a long story short, at a meeting on the 16th of January the board told us that they had decided unanimously to give the property to YWAM. We were well.. blown away!!

The property is amazing. It faces immediately onto Carlingford Lough, and has fantastic views the hills of Ireland to the South. Behind the house is a Forest park with tracks up into the beautiful mountains of Mourne. It is 50 minutes to Belfast and 90 minutes to Dublin on newly laid motor-way. The building sleeps about 70 in total and includes 5 Apartments. More than anything it has a tremendous spiritual legacy and we feel hugely privileged to have the opportunity to carry on in the footsteps of those who have been such towering Christian leaders in Ireland.

It is a moment of grace. God has been very good to us beyond our wildest dreams. It is good news and a real encouragement to Jonny as he steps out in leadership. (He is an outstanding leader) I is an affirmation of the decision to bring our YWAM works in the North and the South together and I believe it is an affirmation of our commitment to work ecumenically with all the Christian Churches. In this sense it is a real encouragement to Kerygma Teams.

KT DTS in India starts!
Our DTS is off to a good start.

We have a bigger DTS community this time, with 7 students, 6 staff (some part-time) a family with 4 grown sons and the children of our 2 families on staff. The students are from Holland, Austria, French Guyana and the rest are from India. For the first time, we have more men than ladies, which is great!

As shared in our last update, Freddy is leading the current DTS and is doing a good job. Please pray for him though, as it is a stretching experience when you lead a DTS for the first time. Pray that he will experience God's grace day to day.

We have had 2 weeks of outreach among Hindus living in slum areas, in partnership with 2 local YWAM ministries and the team has been excited to experience the hunger & openness of the people toward Jesus & God answering their prayers for healing as they minister to the people in their homes.

Lifeteen Mission Team
It was awesome hosting the Lifeteen mission team from the U.S.A who came to help in our work. They were 11 in a team. During their visit , we were able to give shelter to 3 needy people. An 88yr old blind woman and her paralyzed son, an old man who lives in the woods and an old woman with lots of grandchildren. This work demonstrated the love of God to the neigbourhood. We were amazed how some of the community members came with excitement to help. We realized the joy to serve one another and the unity

We also visited an orphanage and the kids ward of an orthopedic hospital where donations were made in cash and kind but most especially prayed with them which was the best presents

The youth were not left out as we had youth programmes in parishes to help youth leaders and also have “life nights” which is modeled after the movements of the Catholic liturgy. The structure is made up of four elements: gather, proclaim, break and send. "gather" the teens with a fun ice-breaker activity, "proclaim" the Gospel message to them, "break" the youth into small discussion groups where they have a chance to share with each other and process points of the message, then "send" them out empowered to live and share the Gospel.

We had free medical outreach at a village which was very evangelistic. It attracted many different Christians , unbelievers and Muslims.

The team really gave their all especially love for the kids and people in our neighbourhood.
